Description:  #SweetTalks is a podcast that pairs desserts and conversations with phenomenal women entrepreneurs. This podcast is based in Richmond, VA, but interviews women nationwide. 

Role: My role as a host and content creator includes networking and coordinating interviews with women entrepreneurs, building relationships with local and nationwide dessert restaurants, and pitching sponsorships. In addition, I manage all public relations, marketing, social media, website and additional communications.  

 Results: The podcast is currently in it’ second season, having featured nearly a dozen phenomenal women entrepreneurs nationwide, reaches 200-250 listeners per episode, has several sponsors, and had featured numerous local dessert restaurants in exchange for giveaway items, etc.



Description: Iridescent is an online community of women committed to awakening the brilliance within each other one real conversation and true contribution at a time.

Role: My role as community contributor allows me to create content about various topics including career and money, relationships, health and wellness, beauty and fashion, culture, lifestyle, and other stories.

Results: Published featured articled entitled “Game Changer” as one of their Career and Money conversations. In a little over a month’s time, this piece was viewed 139 times and this number continues to grow daily.

Description: YWCA Richmond is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. 

Role: My role as Development and Communications Coordinator includes fund development, stewardship, marketing, public relations, reputation management and communications for the organization.

 Results (past and on-going):  Coordinate public relations and marketing for women’s leadership and public education events and activities including the 38th Annual Outstanding Women Award Luncheon, one of the largest celebrations of women in leadership in the Central VA region with over 800 guests, lead logistical arrangements for the annual Donor Recognition Reception with 200 + attendees, serve as point of entry and coordinator for all organization media inquiries and secured features in both online and traditional media including the Richmond Times Dispatch, RVA News, NBC12, WRIC8, CBS6 and more, develop and implement content for agency’s social media, including website, crowdfunding site, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter updates, increasing engagement on all social media platforms by 20% , coordinate annual fund mailing to over 2,500 + targeted donors, increasing annual fund donations by $80,000 in 2017-2018, and more.

Marketing and special events manager | avail marketing, inc.

Description: Avail is a marketing company that uses power to put purpose to play.

Role: My role as Marketing and Special Events Manager included providing program, marketing, and PR support to all organization initiatives and community events by creating community partnerships, solidifying sponsorships, fundraising, and event coordination.

Results: Planned and executed all marketing and event logistics for the VCU Broad Street Mile event, a fundraising initiative for involving over 75 community organizations that raised $40,000 for local non-profits, Planned and executed all event logistics for NFL Superbowl Champion, Mike Rob of the Seattle Seahawk’s Excel to Excellence Foundation’s Celebrity Waiter Experience fundraising event, raising over $120,000 for the organization in one evening and the annual football camp with 500 campers in attendance with local and national media coverage included NBC12, WRIC8 (Richmond, VA) and ESPN. In addition, successfully coordinated the recruitment of 500 + volunteers and manage individual records via various platforms (i.e. Zoho CRM database, Sign-Up Genius, Formstack).

Description:  United Way is a nonprofit that focuses on creating community-based and community-led solutions that strengthen the cornerstones for a good quality of life: education, financial stability and health.

Role: My role as Social Media Specialist and Volunteer Coordinator gave me the unique opportunity to build relationships within local community among our organization, other nonprofits and corporate partners. In addition, I was charged with creating brand marketing/communications plans and launching social media campaign annually.

 Results: • Planned and executed over 150 organization volunteer events including an annual community-wide Day of Action volunteer event utilizing budgets ranging from $0-$15,000, successfully coordinated the recruitment of 1,000 + volunteers and manage individual records via CRM database, assisted with new program development communications including launch of Young Leaders Society, Jan. 2015 , and increased social media engagement by 50%.

Description:  Lifewithbri was a personal faith-based blog site launched in January 2013 (ended December 2017).

Role: My role as founder and blogger/content creator included Created all content for the blog site including photography/video and copy for posts. In addition, I promoted blog posts on a daily/weekly basis via social media as well as implemented strategies to optimize blogger experience with target audiences and create viral potential.

 Results: Formed partnerships with the blogger community and companies such as Gabrielle Union’s Flawless Hair Care product line to create content and revenue.

Description: Johnson Marketing, Inc. is a Richmond-based marketing firm that is well-known for coordinating events such as the Richmond Jazz Festival.

Role: My role as a Public Relations Intern included developing and implementing marketing plans and strategies via media outlets for clients and sponsorships, composing e-blasts, press releases, scripts for hosts, social media, blog, web content, and newsletter

 Results: Planned, publicized, and branded events such as the Fridays at Sunset Series in Kanawaha Plaza, 2011 Richmond Jazz Festival, and composing articles/press releases and photography for the RRHA Spirit: Newsletter for Residents.

Description: This was the first year Virginia State University was invited to select 4 students to participate in this NASCAR internship.   

Role: My role as brand marketing intern included working collaboratively to conduct case study research and development on company marketing, retail, and promotional issues. In addition, our team was charged with planning and executing a community viewing party event including a $1,000 budget.  

Results: My team received 2nd place nationwide in of the case study competitions and was able to coordinate several community sponsorship with local businesses and our event attracted 200 + attendees and resulted in on-camera/telephone interviews with various local media.



Description:  The Hodges Partnership is a Richmond-based marketing and public relations agency.

Role: My role as Public Relations Intern included working with staff to develop and implement marketing plans for clients to create a strong presence via social media and assist in event planning.

 Results: Worked alongside clients such as AMF300 to create a social media campaign, assisted in event planning for the South University Grand Opening in Richmond, VA, and utilized database systems including Cision Point, My Media, BurrellesLuce to conduct research, and contact various publications to publish company/client articles.

Description: This was a class project for my Campaign class while at Virginia State University.  The objective was to partnered with organization to coordinate an on-campus rally to educate and register students and faculty of Virginia State University as organ donors.

Role:  My role as event coordinator included solidifying the on-campus venue, food, music, etc.

Results: The rally resulted in registering 40 individuals and saving 270 lives.
